This is getting more and more insane! As we dig into this Robinson Helicopter, we discovery some pretty crazy things. We are learning so much and we couldn't be more happier to get one step closer to getting a pilots license. However, we still got a good bit to go to get this beast overhauled, but when its complete thats when well experience some freedom flying. We cant wait to get this helicopter complete! Thanks For Watching!!!

Why the long delay from when this video was made? I appreciate you've been working on a new HQ and theres only so much time you can devote to other projects, but will you be coming ba k to this soon or are there other priorities to finish off?

Where do you go after rebuilding a helicopter? Personally I'd like to see you guys designing and building a unique one-off car of your own. How about an electric pickup truck to challenge the new Tesla?

jesus, you have just turned that r22 into a piece if scrap metal.. you need professional advice on this one, there's a reason everything is lock wired and the correct certification and endorsement is required to work on certain aircraft. Go to you local air field and talk to someone who is licenced to work on these, before you kill someone.

Your very lucky to have your own r22 and to work on it I have trying to get my helicopter flying licence for many years although I would not choose a robinson due to its 12 year 2200 hour strip down I would choose either a enstrom f28A or a Hiller uh 12 b or C or any Hiller/as both makes plus the Hughes /Schweizer 300c all have either on condition parts or no Callander time parts, enstrom have only 1 Callander time life part and just 9 over haul parts they just get replaced when they're running time hours are up so it means a enstrom could be flown up to 20 to 30 years before any heavy costs and replacement parts are needed, all best from Peter in the UK

Outch. My flight engineer stomach turned at 7:58. You do not want to use a wrench on a aircraft. And most definitely you DO NOT want tools to touch components like the gearbox. Not even making a small mark. Before you know it you have a micro crack in the casting. Even the smalest mark on a gearbox usually means blending out shot peen and Eddy current testing. And 10:25 removing cotter pin it leaves a mark on the tail shaft component. Power tools usually a no-no for anything but panels etc. You want to feel the things you disassemble so you may pick up potentially problems with the threads or bindings. Big different between car and a helicopter: A car is made as stirdy as it needs to be. A helicopter is made as flimsy as it needs to be...

Either you wear a mask properly or dont wear it at all. And if a shop has a mask requirement, wear it properly. Not to sound like a cop but that shit really does decrease the chance of YOU catching the virus and also of you accidentally spreading it to some old grandma who might die from it by like 90%

You need a A&P mechanics license from the FAA to rebuild these things. Unless, it's an experimental aircraft. Then you have to follow a bunch of regulations for experimental aircraft. Aircraft are highly regulated.

Just the fact that you guys are using an adjustable wrench to disassemble this entire thing suggests you might not be the right people to be doing this. This is life or death guys, not the realm for adjustables and duct tape!
5 місяців tagasijoshua carver
Hey guys love watching this build makes me want to do it with a 22/44/66. I too am a a&p mechanic and you guys need to get you some ignition wrenches specifically a 7/32 for the r22 baffle nuts makes things way easier I do forget the size of the transmission bolts but for reinstallation I highly recommend getting the correct size wrench for the head of the bolt when you torque the nut to Robinson heli torque specs. Can’t wait to see more. Fun watching.

At 9:55 you pulled up a joint and exposed some yellow material, this is called mastinox or "nastyinox" (spelling) never let that touch your skin, its very carcinogenic. But is a wonderful rust inhibitor.
5 місяців tagasiterry reeves
Isn’t there any regulations in America about rebuilding these things? In Australia you have to bean air engineer at the minimum.
5 місяців tagasiEddie Smith
@Chuck Croston I agree totally, my first thoughts were of the FAA and Robinson Helicopter Company. 🤷♂️
5 місяців tagasiChuck Croston
@Eddie Smith Glad to hear they have someone helping even if they are not being shown. TBH, I am surprised the FAA has not jumped all over them for this. I personally think they need to be more open with what is required for this type of thing and the fact that a garage mechanic is not going to be able to rebuild something like this in a garage for the most part.
5 місяців tagasiEddie Smith
@Chuck Croston Absolutely correct but, behind the scenes the guys are being supervised and guided with one of the top Robinson Factory certified rebuilders on the entire east coast. I know nothing about these guys but I personally know the one supervising the rebuild and you can rest assured it will be done to factory specs. (P.S. I asked questions about this myself and was informed of the above).
5 місяців tagasiChuck Croston
Yes, there are plenty of regulations and they are violating plenty with what they are doing as neither of them are A&P's and they do not have a clue as to what they are doing. In cars, that does not matter but this is a whole different kind of thing they are trying to get into.

I cannot believe the FAA would let this fly. Neither one of the goonsquad has an A&P license which is required to work on aircraft. Any FAA inspector wold refuse to give this a flight certificate.

5 місяців tagasiI.R. Wayright
Some operators put an extra alternator belt on before they reinstall the clutch/ drive assembly. There is a way to tywrap the spare belt out of the way of the rotating flywheel. It saves a lot of time when the original belt breaks or wears out before TBO. You need to have that exhaust system sent out for overhaul too. If a crack develops in the heat muff area, not only will it keep your toes warm, it will put you to sleep...maybe permanently.
