I know it's easier for me to say this because I'm not the one paying for it, however I would pay that extra money to have the felt put in just in case to save any possible incidents later down the road

I know a little bit on housing codes as well I don't know what town you may be in because the codes could be different there. in lots of towns and states, they have different codes due to any reason ranging from distance from a house and septic or for a water well minim depth to Evan the amount of electrical outlets on a single wall

ALSO pls do the wiring of CAT 6 & AUDIO / VIDIO AND HDMI CABLING . YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF . IT IS THE MOST OVER LOOKED THING . WIFI IS GOOD BUT FOR SMART TV, GAMING AND HOME SERVER AND MEDIA SERVER. You need cat 6 and AV cabling in all rooms. ALSO PLS PUT HEATING IN ALL BATHROOMS AND IN BED ROOMS BELOW WOODEN FLOORING IN BED ROOM. YOU WILL LOVE IT , THESE ARE THE MUST EXPENDITURE WORTH INVESTING
Місяць tagasiBurnol
you had spend so much on the exterior and interior and the house is not that big, YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE CLOSED CELL SPRAY FORM. IT IS BIT EXPENSIVE AND IT IS NOT THE SAVINGS YEAR after YEAR but the heating the entire house very quick and retention of heat much much longer. Closed from insulation also effectively seal the entire house air tight and it acts as a sound proofing. IN MY OPINION ITS A ONE TIME INVESTMENT,YOU SHOULD HAVR DEFINITELY GONE FOR CLOSED CELL SPRAY FORM , IT IS 100 times better than glass wool . ATLEAST GO IN FOR CLOSED OR OPEN CELL FORM SPRAY INSULATION UNDER THE ROOFING. BELIEVE ME YOU WILL BE THANKING YOURSELF . There would be absolutely no sound from the sealing during rain and hail storm. IT IS SIMILAR TO THE THING BETWEEN THE SHEET METAL IN THE DEEP FREEZER, FRIDGE AND WALK IN FREEZERS. ALSO CLOSED CELL SPRAY FORM IS USED IN WATER HEATERS. THEY ALL USE IT BECAUSE IT IS ULTIMATE IN INSULATION AND EFFECTIVE : IMAGINE WHY ANY ONE NOT USE GLASS WOOL IN FRIDGE , FREZZERS AND IN WATER HEATERS THEY

hahaha Walking your ladders is a great trick electricians do it literally all the time. ONLY problem with it is that it wears out your ladders way way way faster than normal. It can also be fairly dangerous if you accidentally put one of the legs in a hole.

Guys, instead of using the skill saw and doing plunge cuts (lots of kickback) use a track saw. You can rent them from homedepot. Tracksaws ,as the name implies, sit on a track that you can quickly set up, the track allows you to make perfectly straight cuts each time on things like large pieces of subfloor or even cutting the hardwood like you did here.
2 місяці tagasiB
Boys, spray foam can really damage your home. Some times it doesn't cure properly and can leave your house smelling like chemicals for years. Because spray foam can only be removed via mechanical methods ie. manually scrapping the hardened foam off each beam, it's also very important that it is done correctly the first time. Traditional glass insulation is great, you guys made a good choice. Especially, if at some point in the future you want to knock down a wall and expand the house.

The padding under the wood floors, depending on the type used provides: •Provides a Moisture barrier •Helps with noise reverberation of the floor for the area and the area below •Can give the floor a softer feel when walking on it. •It also helps determine the bounce/ rebound of the floor

Only true advantage of havin fullon spray foamed insulation iis a slight higher R value and a fairly good increase in static pressure during the pressure tests.... Make sure you do ALL of your wiring before sheetrockin the place wireup all internet & communication lines and TV and/or satellite lines too so you dont have to cut into a freshly sheetrocked wall for mounting tv mounts, cables and comm lines..... Also make sure you use either a rubber gasket or silicon caulking on every single door knob & lock and make sure to get the window handles & locks on those as well.........Cheers

2 місяці tagasiSky Tiger
The rocks have no moisture barrier, and they will cause damage, the attic is going to be 140 degrees trying to cool your house and mold will form in every mistake you made and there are many.

2 місяці tagasiJohn Stedman
'Sheetrock' is a Registered Trademark Name for a specific type of drywall material manufactured only by the 'US Gypsum' company. 'Drywall' and 'Plasterboard are generic terms which do not indicate who the manufacturer is.

Stop calling it sheetrock....its called drywall...sheetrock is a brand name
2 місяці tagasiJohn Stedman
We have not yet seen any internal wall cladding materials on this particular site. If the popular drywall manufactured by the US Gypsum Company is used then it will be correct to refer to it by that company's Registered Trademark product name "Sheetrock". If the drywall is obtained from another manufacturer then it should be referred to generically as 'drywall' or 'plasterboard', or by the name of its actual manufacturer. However, Goonzquad do not seem to understand such legal issues, since they are still repeatedly and wrongly referring to their choice of external siding by the Registered Trademark name "Hardie", when it is actually made by "Nichiha USA Incorporated".

Guys I live in Alaska and built a 4000 sf house. trying to figure out What kind of insulation to use was a pickle. The calculation using your kind of insulation using R value meant I would have had to have a 190,000 BTU furnace. The cost of running that unit would have been close to 5-600 a month during the winter months. I used the Spray Foam insulation instead. The heater I use in the house not is a Toyo Stove 40,000 BTU. the cost of running it is around 200.00 month give or take. The overall cost savings is around 3-400 a Month. I cant imaging how much your saveing would have been in Tennssee as I know Air condition Is the biggest cost you have but the principles are the same keeping heat in or out.
2 місяці tagasiJohn Stedman
The Goonzquad house is situated in an area which is theoretically subtropical. It is however on a mountain, but on the quite sheltered southern slope and so will not have to endure the full effects of the coldest winter winds and storms. My experience of this part of Tennessee suggests that heating will only be needed for around four months of the year, and cooling for around four months as well. The cost of cooling air per degree is usually about three times that of heating the same volume of air per degree, because of the differing efficiencies of the processes. The costs of actually running the HVAC system which Goonzquad are in the process of installing will depend mainly on user attitudes to thermal comfort and factors such as whether the property is occupied 24/7, the amount of natural ventilation that is preferred, and the intelligent use of thermostats and timing devices. They have not yet revealed any plans for generating power on site (from wind or solar energy, for example), or for installing a wood burning furnace, and these could provide substantial financial savings in the medium and long term.
2 місяці tagasiwirenut003
You will need some outlets for ceiling fans and switches for them
2 місяці tagasiJohn Stedman
They might, or on the other hand they may prefer to use the HVAC system and window ventilation to move air around inside the building. People from rural backgrounds tend to abhor sealed buildings in my experience, and will become adept at opening opposing windows to provide through ventilation if weather allows. None of the family smoke, which usually reduces necessary air change rates by at least half.

Yes, that is how it was 'designed' in 2008 for a particular elderly occupier. The interior is obviously not large enough nor is it arranged appropriately for a typical family to live there. Goonzquad could have extended and substantially altered the layout of the house to remedy these limitations, or they could have opted to tear it down and redevelop from scratch, using an experienced and qualified professional designer and real contractors. I would have favoured the latter course of action since this would have benefitted the asset value by making the property much more attractive to potential future purchasers.

It's difficult to see clearly on the video, but you are quite right to point out that any recessed lighting which may be in contact with insulation materials is required to comply with specific regulations.
